The Fenris Wolf by JillHoffman The Fenris Wolf by JillHoffman
Feared and bound by the Norse Gods with the magical Gleipnir, the Fenris wolf is unleashed with the coming of Ragnarok. He will drag his monstrous jaws across the earth.

I've been working on this piece for a while now off and on. It was a personal assignment, and I really enjoyed it. I did run into some uncertainties along the way but this won't be the last Fenris Wolf I draw :)

ive read the edda sagas (somehow a compilation, not the complicated poems) a long time ago, but i remember the story of the fenris which was bound with gleipnir.
i really like your illustration! especially how you did the gleipnir.
the picture is smooth but powerful.
there are two little creatures at the tail of the wolf, what do they mean :)?
and under the wolfs belly is something like a hole in the ground, is this the cave where the fenris was bound and the rivers which arise from the fenris itself?

Yes, the hole is the depths from which he came. :)
The two little creatures are Hati and Skoll, who chase the sun and moon.
Thank you for noticing these details and commenting! I love when someone recognizes the little bits in my work
